Medical Marijuana: A Challenge to Traditional Pain Relief?

Medical use of marijuana for a broad range of conditions is expanding rapidly in the US, as legalization gathers pace and investors flock to a booming market. A January 2017 report for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) found substantial or conclusive evidence of marijuana’s therapeutic benefit in chronic pain, multiple sclerosis and chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. Other, more tentative US state-approved indications include diabetes, glaucoma, epilepsy, migraine, post-traumatic stress disorder, hepatitis C, Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and Tourette syndrome.

Published in the Pharma Market Research Report, December 2012 By Harriet Kozak, U.S. President The rising popularity of mobile devices and tablets amongst physicians presents a number of interesting opportunities for pharmaceutical marketers and, consequently, new challenges to MR. With 80% of U.S. physicians claiming to use a mobile device in their daily medical practices, pharma can now add value with Apps and internet tools to help doctors improve their productivity. Patients have also been keen to utilize Apps for education, support and to improve their health. For market researchers, I predict the challenge will be helping marketers understand precisely how audiences are engaging with Apps and other online resources and how their needs can best be served with these tools in the future. Physicians’ adoption of tablets has also meant that we have witnessed many pharma companies who have already moved, or are in the process of moving, their sales force from paper-based detail aids to ones given on iPad or tablet. No surprise, given the opportunities that these technologies offer for delivering more dynamic content. PMRG Annual National Conference

The Research Partnership attended and exhibited at the PMRG Annual National Conference at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes hotel in Orlando, Florida on 25-27 March 2012. Representing The Research Partnership were Harriet Kozak, US President and Melinda Shorr, Associate Director.We took the theme of this year's conference seriously, and we really did "rev up our innovation engine". Pharma Market Research Conference

Parsipanny, New Jersey, USA February 7-8, 2012

The Research Partnership exhibited at the Pharma Market Research Conference in Parsippany New Jersey on 7-8 February, and representing the company were Harriet Kozak, US President and Sue Marett, Director. We celebrated our 15th anniversary by demonstrating a new market research app tool we are developing, and showcased our unique patient report services, "Living with a chronic illness".We also showed a trailer for a documentary which will shortly be released on the social media website YouTube. The documentary features a recent visit by the company’s Directors to its sponsored charity, Forever Angels, which runs a baby home in Tanzania, Africa. The charity relies entirely on individual and corporate donations for funding. The Research Partnership hopes that the documentary, which highlights the incredible work of the charity and the daily challenges they face, will help raise awareness and encourage more donations.

Harriet Kozak is awarded PBIRG President at the PBIRG AGM 2011

This year's PBIRG AGM Conference in San Antonio was an extra special occasion for Harriet Kozak, President of The Research Partnership US office. Harriet has been presented with the "PBIRG President" award for continual support of the organisation.

The Conference was held in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of it's founding, and to celebrate past presidents were invited to participate in a panel session where they spoke about the past and future of PBIRG in the pharma market research industry.Mary Assimakopoulos, co-Founder of The Research Partnership said "Harriet has made a great contribution to the company since she joined and we are glad that her hard work and dedication has been recognised by a great organisation like PBIRG, whose mission and objectives we fully support".
