U.S office holds it's annual community day
In honour of the Martin Luther King Day of Service, the Research Partnership US office spent their Community Day at The Giving Factory working with the Philadelphia chapter of Cradles to Crayons to package ‘KidsPacks’ for local children in need.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Philadelphia has the highest poverty rate among the nation's ten largest cities, with nearly one in four Philadelphians, including 130,000 children, living in poverty.
US Office Community Day
On this year's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Jan. 16, 2012), the US office of the Research Partnership celebrated by joining up with volunteers from Greater Philadelphia Cares to help clean up urban neighborhoods.
Volunteers were at multiple locations throughout the city, with our office being assigned a local park that needed some beautifying. Although the middle of winter, it was a beautiful day with very mild temperatures, perfect for some outdoors cleaning. The team set out with rakes and brooms, clearing walkways, the basketball court and community area of leaves and debris. By the end of the day the local park was litter free and looking rejuvenated. With dozens of garbage bags full at the end of the day, The Greater Philadelphia Cares organizers were very thankful for our help and thought the park looked amazing.Since the project this year was such a success, we plan to make Martin Luther King, Jr. Day our annual day of service and look forward to more opportunities to work with our community, taking time to give back.

Our Community Day was no washout, despite the wet weather!
Every year The Research Partnership arranges a Community Day, where we volunteer our time to give something back to the local community.
This year we chose to support HAFAD (Hammersmith and Fulham Action on Disability), an indepenedent organisation promoting equality for disabled people. The Community Day took place on Friday 10th June and 16 staff from our London office volunteered to take part of it. HAFAD asked if our volunteers could help to improve their garden area. So our staff split into 2 groups, with half helping out in the morning, and half in the afternoon. Both groups were set to work cleaning up the outside area which included mending the fence, cleaning out the pond area, painting the shed, planting new plants, building a bench and new window boxes and generally cleaning and tidying. Although the weather managed to hold out for most of the day, the afternoon group were eventually forced inside by the rain, where they lent a much needed hand in clearing out the storage room, and helping clear through a backlog of shredding and archiving.HAFAD were delighted with the hard work that our volunteers put in and with the end result. "Our sincere thanks to the RP team who worked so diligently, despite the very wet weather". Click here for more photos of the day. Thanks to:Roshni Shah, Jaiver…
Community Day 2010
The Research Partnership recently held its annual community day, whereby our staff offer their services to a local charity or community.
This year volunteers travelled to the River House resource centre in Hammersmith, located on the banks of the Thames. The centre offers a wide range of services to both adults and children living with HIV and AIDS. It aims to provide a home from home by enabling people to socialise over a hot meal, relax with a massage, enjoy a music lesson or simply learn more about how best to cope with their condition. The Research Partnership was keen to work with River House after hearing about the wonderful work the charity undertakes with limited budgets! The task at hand was to spruce up the dining area and entrance hall with a fresh coat of paint. The day started with the first group of RP employees heading down bright and early to drop off materials, before throwing themselves into the painting so they could get the first coat done by lunchtime. The second group then took over, and after enjoying a quick lunch prepared by River House’s resident Chef, they managed to complete another coat and also make all the finishing touches to the woodwork. All this would not have been possible if a few of our hands-on employees hadn’t agreed to give…
Community Day 2009
The Research Partnership recently held its annual community day, where staff offer their services to help a local charity or community.
This year volunteers travelled to Saint Mary Abbots Rehabilitation and Training (SMART) centre, a local charity affiliated with the Hammersmith and Fulham hospital that helps people with mental health problems to learn life skills. The SMART centre was in desperate need of a sprucing up, both the interior and exterior building. Our volunteers had a big task ahead of them for the day, but they successfully managed to make a positive difference, by:- Re-painting the cafe & garden tables- Clearing flowerbeds & adding fresh compost- Replacing flowerbeds with vegetable/herb patches- Building a trellis- Framing SMART artwork for display- Planting vegetables and herbs in the greenhouse- Preparing hanging baskets for the front exteriorAll of this wouldn't have been possible without the help of a few of our hands-on executives, Marie, Nicky, Rachel, Lucy, Marietta, Sam, Laura, Angela and Jenny who all gave up their time to help out for the day. SMART were very grateful for the work that we did, as is evident from the thanks we received afterwards: “Thank you so much for all your help with SMART - your team were great and we loved having them here. The place looks fantastic and all the members are keen to help out…
