Studying the attitudes and experiences of patients living with diabetes in different countries can be invaluable to guide effective communication plans. With access to an ever-increasing plethora of sources, ranging from friends and family to charitable organisations and numerous online resources from websites to online forums and communities, consumers are becoming increasingly knowledgeable about their illness and treatment options. Therefore, pharma marketers should be paying more attention to the voice of the patient. Proposals for patients to have better access to high quality information on prescription medicines have been received favourably by the European Parliament, so it is likely that pharmaceutical companies will need to ensure that they are giving patients access to accurate, clear and unbiased information, which also resonates and engages with their audience. In Asia, where patients often have to fund at least a proportion of their treatment, positive perception of the brand is critical. A better understanding of patients is therefore essential in order to communicate with them effectively. Our Community Day was no washout, despite the wet weather!

Our Community Day was no washout, despite the wet weather!

Every year The Research Partnership arranges a Community Day, where we volunteer our time to give something back to the local community.

This year we chose to support HAFAD (Hammersmith and Fulham Action on Disability), an indepenedent organisation promoting equality for disabled people.The Community Day took place on Friday 10th June and 16 staff from our London office volunteered to take part of it. HAFAD asked if our volunteers could help to improve their garden area. So our staff split into 2 groups, with half helping out in the morning, and half in the afternoon. Both groups were set to work cleaning up the outside area which included mending the fence, cleaning out the pond area, painting the shed, planting new plants, building a bench and new window boxes and generally cleaning and tidying. Although the weather managed to hold out for most of the day, the afternoon group were eventually forced inside by the rain, where they lent a much needed hand in clearing out the storage room, and helping clear through a backlog of shredding and archiving.HAFAD were delighted with the hard work that our volunteers put in and with the end result.
