Events: PMRC Basel 2018 round up

October 29, 2018

Earlier this month Director Paula Coyle and Associate Director An-hwa Lee attended the European Pharmaceutical Market Research Conference in Basel, Switzerland. The event was well-received thanks to an agenda that included many thought-provoking sessions that addressed key industry issues and allowed attendees to enhance their knowledge.

PMRC EU 2018 An-hwa and Paula

On day one of the conference An-hwa presented the paper ‘How to capture rare disease ‘moments-of-truth’ using online communities’ which demonstrated how, with careful set-up and management, online communities can be excellent methods for attaining an in-depth, meaningful understanding of patients with rare diseases. The session was well attended and received positive feedback from delegates. To find out more about the paper please contact us.

At the Research Partnership stand Paula and An-hwa had the opportunity to catch up with several clients – old and new, and were on hand to talk to visitors about RP Informs, our range of free and customisable tutorials specifically designed to help improve understanding of the issues affecting healthcare market research. In the evening, they attended the official networking reception and then hosted a private dinner at Switzerland's historic Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois.

In between chatting with conference delegates, Paula and An-hwa attended a range of other presentations. Many themes emerged over the course of the two-day event, with several papers focusing on innovation in market research and patient / customer insights. Lifescience Dynamics moderated a particularly interesting panel - ‘Testing innovative MR methodologies with physicians’ which asked physicians who had recently participated in primary market research about their motivations for taking part and how we as researchers can make studies more engaging in the future. Although many physicians didn’t have expectations, they did seem keen to see more innovative methodologies in future studies, including greater interaction with their peers.

Several of the papers also focused on patient centricity including ‘Patient centricity in market research: From aspiration to reality’ presented by UCB’s European Director of Market Research & Insights, Koen Union, and ‘Patient centricity: 10 lessons pharma can learn from FMCG’ presented by Ferring’s Global Market Intelligence Lead, Olga Kornilova. There was a general emphasis on new techniques for conducting market research and the challenge of generating impactful insights.

Overall, the conference proved to be a great success and we look forward to attending next year’s event.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English.
