Research Partnership launches new patient Living with Atopic Dermatitis (US) 2017 report
Living with Atopic Dermatitis (AD) is a study conducted amongst 100 adults and 50 caregivers in the US. The report will consist of 45-minute quantitative and 30-minute qualitative interviews with AD patients and caregivers. Results will be available to purchase December 2017.
The report is intended to help pharmaceutical companies developing products in Atopic Dermatitis to gain a deeper understanding of how patients come to be diagnosed with AD and how it impacts their day-to-day lives physically, emotionally and socially. It also explores patient attitudes and perceptions towards treatment and the healthcare professionals managing their condition as well as identifying the types of support patients seek at key stages of their journey.
Atopic Dermatitis affects about 20% of people at some point in their lives and around 15 million people in the United States have one or more symptoms of this disease. The number of people affected by AD appear to have plateaued in countries with high prevalence, such as in North America and Europe, however AD is growing in regions such as Latin America and Asia.
Head of Living with, Mariel Metcalfe commented, “We are pleased to conduct this study, especially since Atopic Dermatitis can represent such a physical and emotional burden not only on the patient but also their caregivers. This report will provide comprehensive, quantitative insights into patient behaviours and perceptions, as well as their feelings at key stages of their journey living with AD.”
Currently being conducted in the US but looking to expand the survey to the EU, LATAM and Asia, Living with Atopic Dermatitis is just one in a series of reports offering comprehensive insight into the chronic disease patient journey from pre-diagnosis to stabilisation. Living with Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) (US), Lupus (SLE) (EU & US), Crohn’s (EU & US), Rheumatoid Arthritis (EU & US), Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) (EU) and Ulcerative Colitis (EU and US) reports have recently been published and are available to purchase. Living with Psoriasis (EU) has also been launched and will be available to purchase early December 2017.
